Privacy and cookies

This website is run by Evidence Systems (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/740413/07, Cape Town, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here. For anything about this notice, email enquiries@evidencesystems.co.za.

The first time you visit, a box at the foot of the page asks whether we may use Google Analytics cookies. You can accept or decline, and both choices are equally easy.

If you accept, Google Analytics loads, sets the cookies listed below and records your visit.

If you decline, or do not choose, neither Google Analytics nor Google Tag Manager loads. No analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is sent to Google. The site works the same either way.

The box covers Google Analytics only. The visitor counts described under Visitor counts from our host run for everyone, because they set no cookies and store nothing on your device.

We save your choice in your browser's local storage, under es-cookie-consent, so the box does not appear on every page. It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and lasts 12 months before we ask again.

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of any page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies from your browser. Information already recorded is then removed on the schedule described under How the information is stored.

The only cookies this site sets come from Google Analytics, and they are set only if you accept them.

The cookies stay in your browser for up to 2 years unless you delete them, decline in Cookie settings, or clear your browser.

If you accept, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you reached the site (for example from a search engine or a link), your approximate location (country and city), your device, browser and screen size, how long you spend on each page, how far down a page you scroll, and which links to other websites you click. It also records when you click our email address or copy it, click a Get in touch or Contact button (including the one at the end of each Resources guide), or open or click into the booking calendar, so we can see which pages lead people to contact us. It does not record what you write in an email or what you enter in the booking form. Google Analytics does not store your IP address.

Google Analytics is loaded through Google Tag Manager, a Google tool that loads it on the page. Tag Manager sets no cookies of its own and, like Google Analytics, loads only if you accept.

We use this to see which pages people read and where the site needs work. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to identify you.

This site is hosted by Vercel, which also counts visits for us with Vercel Web Analytics. It records the page you view, the site that referred you, your country, and your browser, operating system and type of device. We see these only as totals.

It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. To avoid counting the same visitor twice in a day, Vercel works out a code from details of your request and discards it after 24 hours, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next or identify you. Vercel may process this information outside South Africa, under its own privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Where. Google stores the information for us in our Google Analytics account, on Google's servers. These may be outside South Africa. Google handles it under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms, which we have accepted.

How long. Information linked to your cookie, such as the pages viewed during your visits, is deleted after 2 months. Reports that show only totals, such as the number of visits to a page in a month, do not identify anyone and are kept.

Who can see it. Only people at Evidence Systems with access to our Google Analytics account can see the reports. We do not combine them with other information to identify you.

What Google may do with it. Our account allows Google to use the information to maintain and improve its services, to produce aggregated benchmarks that do not identify our site's visitors, and to give us technical support. Google states that it does not use this information for its own ad personalisation. We have not linked the account to Google Ads, and Google signals, which connects visits to signed-in Google accounts, is turned off.

Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

The contact page lets you book an introductory call through Google Calendar. The calendar on that page is loaded from Google only when you press "Show the booking calendar" or open the booking page. Google may set its own cookies when it loads, under Google's privacy policy. These are separate from the cookie box, which covers Google Analytics only. The other pages of this site do not load the calendar.

When you book, Google Calendar collects your name, your email address and your answers to the booking questions, and passes them to us. The booking is stored in our Google Workspace calendar, on Google's servers, which may be outside South Africa.

We use these details only to arrange and prepare for the call. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

We use your name, email address and message to reply to you and, if we work together, to run that work. We do not sell or share it for marketing.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. Email enquiries@evidencesystems.co.za.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

If we change how this site uses cookies or stores information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
